T&T Research and Control for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development:
Promoting Partnership and Learning Agenda in the context of African Renaissance
The General Conference of the International Scientific Council for Trypanosomiasis Research and Control (ISCTRC) will be held on 8th to 12th September 2013 in Khartoum, Sudan. The objective of the Conference will be to promote information sharing on tsetse, human and animal trypanosomiasis problem, review control strategies and recommend appropriate approaches in research and control for the next two years. It will be a five day event with over 300 participants from the 36 T&T affected African countries and international organizations expected to attend with over 100 presentations.
AU-IBAR and the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) held an internal coordination meeting on Africa fisheries in Nairobi, Kenya on 5th and 6th February 2013. The meeting was the third in a series of planned quarterly meetings between the two African Union agencies and is generally aimed at coordinating fisheries activities on the continent with the purposes of harmonizing and generating synergistic approaches to programme implementation.
As the African Union is becoming increasingly committed to proper and timely planning and execution of activities, AU-IBAR organised a retreat from 7th to 11th January 2013, to discuss and finalise the 2013 Annual Management Plan (AMP) 2013. The event, which included team building exercises, took place at the scenic Lake Naivasha Country Club in Naivasha, Kenya.
