Regional Technical Meetings
SPINAP received funding applications from 46 of the 47 eligible countries. The assessments of the applications by SPINAP's programme coordination unit and subsequent deliberations at the inception workshops revealed major differences between the countries in terms of the level of affectedness by HPAI, technical capacity to deal with the effects and approaches to prepare and respond to it.
The level of differences found between the national strategies in the areas of disease surveillance, communications and laboratory diagnosis showed the need for further discussion on common approaches and benchmarks to ensure an effective application of each national strategy.
