The African Union’s Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) is a specialised technical office reporting to the Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission. AU-IBAR’s mandate is to support and coordinate the utilisation of livestock, fisheries and wildlife as resources for both human wellbeing and economic development in the member states of the African Union. Depending on AU-IBAR’s needs, the Procurement Unit of the Finance and Administration department issues Requests for Proposals or Invitations for Bids to prospective consultants who indicate their interest for providing consultancy services for assignments funded through the administrative or capital budgets of AU-IBAR.Please see below our current list of requests for proposals.

Procurement
AU-IBAR prefers the most open competitive procedures for procurement of goods, works and services. Accordingly, the Procurement Unit has been entrusted with the functional authority and responsibility for AU-IBAR’s internal procurement. In carrying out this mandate, it commits to obtaining the right products and services for the stated purpose; at the right time, place and cost; in a manner that balances the overall institutional requirements for economy, efficiency, transparency, equal opportunity, accountability.In this regard, AU-IBAR has developed Rules and Procedures for Procurement of Goods and Works and Rules and Procedures for Recruitment of Consultants that give fair and equal opportunity to interested and eligible contractors, suppliers and consultants. To assist them, AU-IBAR has also developed Standard Bidding Documents for goods, works and services that are useful as guidance to facilitate a smooth procurement process.
AU-IBAR also promotes socially and environmentally responsible procurement and encourages vendors’ commitment to fair wages and benefits, safety, and environmental programs.
