The African Union was chair of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) that advised and guided the project implementation and management. AU-IBAR hosted the project, coordinated the RAC activities and mobilized co-funding for AU member states.

Web Link The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)

The role of FAO on the SPFIF project was to provide technical support to the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) Secretariat and to the AU Member states interested in accessing the partnership fisheries investment fund for preparation of project concept note. FAO also provided advice on policies and replication of strategies, and supports the RAC in meeting its monitoring and evaluation responsibilities.

The World Bank was the implementing Agent of the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) funds, the partnership fisheries fund and the partners' fund for the executing the project. The Bank also helped to facilitate the country level investment through its financial instruments.

The WWF provided support to Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) on communication functions, helped identified synergies and facilitated dissemination of common lesson learned as well as raising awareness on sustainable fisheries best practices.
