Annie Katunge Lewa is the AU-IBAR’s projects officer. She holds a Doctorate degree in Socio-Economics; a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management; a Master’s degree in Veterinary Parasitology; a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine; a Diploma in Project management and various certificates, including one in Monitoring and evaluation of projects. She speaks both English and French. Annie joined AU-IBAR in 2006 as the Animal Health Expert for the Somali Ecosystem Rinderpest Eradication Coordination Unit (SERECU) project, and was later promoted to the position of Coordinator for the Regional Animal Health Center for Eastern Africa. Her current duties as the projects officer include: facilitation of the formulation of strategies for disease prevention and control and management of existing and new programs and projects; and coordination of the preparation of the various AU-IBAR budgets. Annie gives technical support to Monitoring and Evaluation of IBAR’s projects and interventions in the 54 African Union Member States. She liaises with the various AU-IBAR’s partners and stakeholders and also coordinates collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of the various project progress reports. . Before joining IBAR, she worked with the Department of Veterinary Services, Kenya in the disease control division, and also worked with various NGOs, among them VSF-Germany and the Kenya Network for Draught Animal Technology (KENDAT). Annie has also taught at the United States International University (USIU), at the Department of natural sciences.
