Through the PPP ACT 2021, the Republic of Kenya provides for the paticipation of private sector in the financing, construction, dveleopment, operations or maintanance of infrastructure through the public private partnerships by streamlining the regulatory frameworks for such partnerships. This policy document sets out the steps that the Government takes to ensure that private investment is used, where appropriate, to address the infrastructure deficit and improve public services in a sustainable way. In line with the Government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, it ensures that the transfer of responsibility to the private sector follows best international practice and is achieved through open competition.

It is against this development, hereof, that APMD evaluated the PPP policy framework and their adaptations in strenghthening investments in pastoral livestock sector in Kenya. Therefore, the workshop seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • To present a draft report findings by the Government and private sector actors.
  • To collect feedback on the review by the relevant actors and incorporate their inputs into the final report.
  • To improve on the usefulness of the report by ensuring consistency of the findings with recommendations.
  • To improve on the quality of the draft report through a participatory assessment and feedback.
  • To intiatie networking among relevant stakeholders public and private for future PP impelementations.
