AU-IBAR’s capacity-building initiatives play a pivotal role in strengthening Africa’s animal resource sector by equipping stakeholders with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to drive sustainable development. Through tailored training programmes, technical support, and institutional strengthening, AU-IBAR enhances the capacities of national veterinary services, research institutions, policymakers, and private sector actors. These efforts address critical areas such as animal health and production, feed and fodder systems, disease surveillance, data management, and One Health approaches. By fostering a skilled and responsive workforce, AU-IBAR enables Member States to implement effective policies, improve service delivery, and respond more effectively to emerging challenges such as climate change, transboundary animal diseases, and food insecurity.
