GLF Africa 2026: Stewarding Our Rangelands will take place from 6–7 May 2026 as a hybrid conference hosted by the CIFOR-ICRAF. The event is expected to bring together over 8,000 participants from across Africa and around the world to examine critical issues related to rangeland stewardship, pastoral livelihoods, dryland restoration, and landscape finance.
The conference aims to advance the revitalisation of rangelands while contributing to climate stability, food security, and biodiversity conservation. It also seeks to elevate the role and agency of pastoralist communities within global and regional dialogues on climate, biodiversity, and food systems.
The AU-IBAR will be contributing to critical conversations on how pastoralism can strengthen resilient and sustainable food systems across Africa.
From livestock value chains to rangeland governance and climate resilience, this engagement reflects AU-IBAR’s mandate to advance sustainable animal resources development, support regional integration, and drive evidence-based policy and investment.
Open to virtual participation at no cost, the event provides a strategic platform for policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and pastoral communities to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and advance innovative, community-driven solutions for resilient and sustainable landscapes.
