Virtual Workshop on Strengthening Regional Blue Value Chains in Small Scale Octopus' Fisheries

The workshop seeks to create awareness of the WION-SOF (West Indian Ocean Network for Small-scale octopus fisheries) among stakeholders and develop broad-based consensus among the stakeholders on the way-forward for strengthening the Network for effective role in promoting inclusive and sustainable octopus fisheries in the WIO.

The workshop will achieve the following:

1. To brief the stakeholders on the assessment conducted on small-scale octopus’ fisheries regional value in the WIO.
2. To sensitize and create awareness of the WION-SOF among stakeholders.
3. To share information on the outcomes of stakeholders’ consultative meetings on small-scale octopus fisheries regional value chain in the WIO.
4. Identify and invite members from the other WIO countries to engage and participate in the network.
5. To review the way forward or next steps on full operationalization of the WION-SOF
