World Rabies Day Webinar 2026: Towards a Rabies Free Africa

Rabies kills about 59,000 people a year, many of them children in Africa and Asia. Vaccinating dogs and treating bite victims quickly can prevent almost every one of these deaths. Countries have committed to ending human deaths from dog-transmitted rabies by 2030, a goal known as Zero by 30.

CABI's One Health Knowledge Bank is hosting a webinar on World Rabies Day to look at how human, animal and environmental health experts can work together to reach that goal. The One Health Knowledge Bank brings together research alongside practical, local and indigenous knowledge.

Seven presenters will share their work. They include AU-IBAR, which will present the Pan-African Strategy for the Elimination of Rabies 2026–2030. The strategy sets out how African countries will work towards Zero by 30.
