Meat Expo

The 4th iteration of the Kenya Meat Expo, which will be held at the Kenya International Conference Centre (KICC) from August 6–8, 2025, under the theme "Driving Sustainable Growth Across the Meat Value Chain," will feature a powerful presence from AU-IBAR. This year's Expo provides AU-IBAR with a strategic platform to showcase how its continental initiatives are facilitating transformation in livestock production, market access, and animal health. Three of its flagship projects, the Resilient African Feed and Fodder Systems (RAFFS), the African Pastoral Markets Development (APMD) Platform, and the PPR Eradication, will participate in the expo.

RAFFS Project to Elevate the Feed-Meat Nexus
As a continuation of its participation in the 2024 Meat Expo, the RAFFS Project will be a pioneer at this year's Expo by leading the establishment of the first-ever "Fodder Zone." By working in conjunction with the Kenya Feed and Fodder Alliance (KEFFA), this milestone acknowledges the critical upstream role that feed and fodder play in influencing the quality, expense, and availability of meat products.
Through the curating and branding of the inaugural Fodder Zone, the RAFFS Project will contribute to the Kenya Meat Expo 2025, establishing an environment for the exchange of knowledge, investment in feed systems, and innovation. To optimise its impact, it shall facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement, support logistics and multimedia dissemination, and provid technical content and visual documentation. RAFFS, in collaboration with the Nation Media Group, has strategically repositioned the Expo's narrative from a meat-centric focus to a systems-based dialogue that connects feed, finance, and food security. This transition has firmly established feed and fodder as a driving force for resilient and inclusive livestock development.

APMD Platform to Promote Pastoralist Inclusion
An expert panel discussion on private sector engagement and strategies to fortify the meat and livestock value chain will be conducted by the APMD Platform to enhance the Expo. The panel will investigate the policy and market-based incentives that are essential for attracting investment and releasing the potential of pastoral economies.
In its exhibition booth, APMD will highlight:
•    The central role of pastoralists in the meat value chain.
•    Innovations and data-driven insights to foster inclusive markets.
•    Dialogue opportunities to shape future partnerships with the private sector and governments.

By giving pastoralists a seat at the table, APMD underscores the importance of equitable and sustainable livestock development across Africa.

Advancing Animal Health and Livelihood Security through the PanAfrican PPR Programme
The Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) Eradication Project will use the Meat Expo platform to raise awareness about the devastating impact of PPR—a transboundary disease that threatens millions of small ruminants, especially in vulnerable pastoral and rural communities.

At the Kenya Meat Expo 2025, AU-IBAR will spotlight the significant socio-economic impacts of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) on smallholder farmers, women, and youth, emphasizing the disease’s threat to food security and rural livelihoods. AU-IBAR will also highlight ongoing interventions, including mass vaccination campaigns, strengthened surveillance systems, and capacity-building efforts for national veterinary services. Additionally, AU-IBAR will showcase best practices and collaborative initiatives with Member States and partners aimed at achieving the global goal of eradicating PPR by 2030.
By integrating animal health advocacy into the Expo, AU-IBAR reinforces the critical link between healthy livestock, food security, and resilient livelihoods.
Driving Systems Change Across the Meat Value Chain

The participation of AU-IBAR in the Kenya Meat Expo 2025 is indicative of its dedication to systems thinking in livestock development, which emphasises the interdependence of feed and forage, inclusive markets, and animal health in the pursuit of sustainable transformation. The inspiration is to establish additional partnerships, investments, and innovations in Africa's livestock sector by participating in this year's expo.
Do not miss the opportunity to witness Africa’s livestock transformation in action.
