Overview

The "Containing the Emergence and Spread of Antimicrobial Resistance in Africa (CES-AMR Africa)" Project aims to enhance AMR governance through regional approaches that strengthen surveillance capacities for AMR microorganisms.

Key Objectives of the CES-AMR Africa Project:

  1. Enhancing Surveillance: Improving surveillance of antimicrobial use and AMR microorganisms to inform targeted interventions.
  2. Delaying Emergence: Implementing strategies to delay the emergence of AMR within animal populations.
  3. Limiting Transmission: Developing measures to limit the transmission of AMR between animals, humans, and the environment.
  4. Mitigating Harm: Implementing interventions to mitigate the harm caused by AMR microorganisms to animal and human health.

Through the CES-AMR Africa project, AU-IBAR is committed to fostering regional collaboration, building capacity, and promoting policies that will effectively contain the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance in Africa. By adopting a One Health approach and leveraging partnerships across sectors, we aim to safeguard the health and prosperity of our continent for generations to come.
