First VACNADA Chief Veterinary Officers Meeting

ENTEBBE, Uganda -- The first meeting for Chief Veterinary Officers (CVOs) from countries that benefit from the VACNADA Project was held at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe, Uganda on 9 May 2010. The meeting aimed at formally introducing the project to the CVOs, appraise them on the financial management and other requirements related to the Memorandum of Understanding and signing of the Country Agreements for the project and to provide feedback on proposals submitted to AU-IBAR for support.

During the meeting, Prof. Ahmed El-Sawalhy, Director of AU-IBAR and project staff represented their organisation and Prof. El-Sawalhy also served as Chairman. GALVmed and PANVAC were represented by Dr. Baptiste Dungu and Dr. Karim Tounkara respectively while the European Union was represented by Mr. Mwangi Njuru. The CVOs that attended the meeting included those from Benin, Burkina Faso, Congo Democratic Republic, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Namibia, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.
