VET-GOV conducts a national Multidisciplinary Stakeholders Workshop in Libya

The Workshop was officially opened by Dr Ahmed Abu Zachar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Marine. Also attending were Dr Mohammed Abdul Raziq, representative of the Director of African Union -Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) , Dr Abdel Nasser Dehom, Chairman of the Management Committee of the National Center for Animal Health and Chief Veterinary Officer, Engineer Yousef Abu Royce, Director of Animal Production and Dr. Osama Ragab, Regional Coordinator of the VET-GOV Programme for the Union of Maghribian Arab (UMA). In addition 25 participants, representing all stakeholders related to animal resources development in Libya, attended the Workshop.

The Workshop aimed to create awareness on the VET-GOV Programme and to promote veterinary governance in Libya and more broadly in northern Africa. The Workshop participants approved the terms of reference for the national focal points and identified members of the Livestock Policy Hub and validated the gabs and entry points for policy intervention.

The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Marine, HE Engineer Ahmed Ayad al Aarifi, who was present during the closing session of the Workshop, endorsed the Workshop outcomes
