The Pan African Donkey Conference

AU-IBAR, together with the International Coalition for Working Equids (ICWE)—comprising Brooke, The Donkey Sanctuary, SPANA (the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad), and World Horse Welfare—is organizing the Donkey Conference – PADCO 2025 under the theme “Africa’s Commitment in Policy and Practice to Donkey Preservation Now and in the Future.” The conference will address the African Union Heads of State’s decision on the moratorium for donkey preservation and work toward a continental strategy for donkey welfare and conservation. It will bring together key stakeholders, including policymakers, veterinarians, NGOs, regional economic communities (RECs), and development partners from across Africa.
