Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock

The 14th Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) Multistakeholder Partnership Meeting will take place in Dakar, Senegal, from 8 to 11 June 2026.

The meeting is co-organised by FAO and MASAE Senegal, with technical cooperation from ILRI and AU-IBAR. It will provide an important global, regional and national platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange and coordinated action on sustainable livestock transformation, One Health, rangelands, pastoralism, women farmers, youth employment and resilient food systems.

The 2026 MSP Meeting comes at a critical time, as livestock systems continue to face growing pressure from climate change, land degradation, population growth, urbanisation and shifting food demand. At the same time, livestock remains central to food security, nutrition, livelihoods, cultural identity and economic opportunity, particularly for pastoralists, smallholder producers, women and young people.

AU-IBAR’s technical cooperation reflects its continued commitment to strengthening sustainable animal resources development in Africa through inclusive policies, knowledge sharing, innovation, investment-oriented dialogue and coordinated action across livestock value chains.

The meeting will be a key opportunity to align global ambitions with local realities and to advance practical solutions that support resilient ecosystems, inclusive livelihoods, sustainable livestock systems and improved nutrition.
