Regional expert write shop for the identification and development of pastoral livestock marketing indicators and their inclusion in CAADP BRR process.

Following the adoption of the Ten-Year Strategy and Action Plan, the CAADP team is developing a results measurement and reporting framework that aligns with the new structure. Given the critical role of Pastoralism in Africa and its critical contribution to Agri-Food Systems, it is therefore essential that Pastoralism indicators are included in the CAAP Result measurement framework as stand-alone indicators or disaggregation or parameters.Therefore, the inclusion of these indicators will enhance the visibility of African pastoralism issues, likely influencing the policy and investment decision-making in the pastoralist sector in different countries.

To achieve this, APMD will be holding a 3-day expert writeshop to;

1. Review indicator frameworks for key continental strategies i.e. CAADP, LiDeSA, Agenda 2063, assess the extent to which the Platform indicators align with the current CAADP-BRR indicators.
2. Develop and/or identify pastoral-livestock development relevant indicators that will be promoted for inclusion in the CAADP biennial reporting.
3. Profile the diverse indicators identified, source of data, and quality assurance and finalize for submission to the CAADP technical working groups.
