This is a training report of the Nature Based Enterprises (NBEs) involving Blue Carbon (BC) ecosystems. Itis part of the KMFRI’s deliverables on the Project ‘Strengthening restoration and protection of Blue Carbonecosystems for community benefits and environmental sustainability’ funded by AU-IBAR. The project aimsto promote restoration and protection of blue carbon ecosystems in Kenya for climate, community, andbiodiversity benefits. As a major output, the project is expected to contribute to improved managementof mangrove forests and the associated biodiversity in Gazi bay. Knowledge and capacity gained throughthe trainings is also expected to enhance the community’s understanding of the true values of mangrovesforests, threats facing them, and the need to restore these coastal wetlands for community livelihood andecosystem integrity.A two days’ workshop was held on 22nd and 23rd August 2023 at Titanic Hotel in Msambweni Sub-countyin the above regard.
