The overall objective of the Regional Expert Validation Workshop is to validate and finalize the developed pastoral livestock sector improvement indicators, their profiles, and draw the way-forward to promote their inclusion into the Kampala CAADP Biennial Review Reporting (BRR) process, for ensuring the visibility and effective integration of pastoralism within Africa’s agri-food systems transformation agenda.
Specifically, the Validation Workshop seeks to:
- To review, validate, and harmonize the developed pastoral sector improvement indicators with other livestock sector indicators including the review of similarities and areas of improvement based on the Malabo CAADP Indicators (e.g., livestock, livelihood, and resilience related ones).
- To finalize the profiling of indicators, including defining measurement parameters, calculation methods, and identifying relevant data sources.
- To engage a broad range of stakeholders (including Lighthouse and Strategic Outreach Countries, RECs, AUC, and development partners) in building consensus around the finalized indicators.
- To develop a roadmap (and advocacy plan) for promoting the incorporation of the validated pastoralism indicators into the Kampala CAADP Results Measurement and Reporting Framework.
