Strengthening Digital Management of PPR Diagnostic Kits through ARIS under PAPS
Under the framework of the Pan-African Secretariat for the Eradication of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PAPS), AU-PANVAC has strengthened its capacity to manage and monitor the distribution of PPR diagnostic kits through the successful integration of the Animal Resources Information System (ARIS) into its operations.
With financial support from the European Union, AU-PANVAC continues to strengthen its digital capacities for the management of PPR diagnostic kits. As part of this initiative, the laboratory technician, the AU-PANVAC IT team, and the PPR laboratory expert received training on the use of the ARIS system. This initiative will improve the traceability, registration, and monitoring of the distribution of diagnostic kits to African Union Member States, thereby strengthening the continental PPR surveillance system.
The system is now fully operational and effectively supports the recording of kit distribution, enhancing traceability, data management, and reporting. This digital solution improves transparency, strengthens laboratory logistics, and contributes to more effective surveillance and enhanced coordination across the continent.
This initiative is fully aligned with the objectives of PAPS to strengthen laboratory systems and accelerate progress toward the eradication of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in Africa by 2030.
