With the support of the Pan-African Secretariat for the Eradication of PPR (PAPS) and funding from the European UnionAU-PANVAC is strengthening Africa's capacity to diagnose and control Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) through targeted laboratory support.

As part of this initiative, two PPR bELISA diagnostic kits were delivered to Mozambique and two to South Sudan, providing the capacity to analyze approximately 7,040 serum samples. This support significantly enhances national laboratory diagnostic capabilities, enabling earlier detection of PPR outbreaks, more reliable surveillance, and timely evidence-based decision-making.

By improving access to quality diagnostic tools, the initiative reinforces national veterinary services, supports effective prevention and control measures, and strengthens regional disease surveillance. Ultimately, it contributes to safeguarding livestock, protecting the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, and accelerating Africa's progress toward the PPR2030 eradication goal.
