AU-IBAR's programme forecast is anchored in the Livestock Development Strategy for Africa (LiDeSA) 2015–2035, aimed at catalyzing the transformation of the African livestock sector for rapid and equitable growth. LiDeSA targets key barriers within the sector through strategic objectives:

  • Attracting public and private investment along livestock value chains.
  • Enhancing animal health and boosting production, productivity, and resilience of production systems.
  • Fostering innovation, technology utilization, and entrepreneurship among value chain actors.
  • Improving access to markets, services, and value addition.

Additionally, AU-IBAR will continue to integrate fisheries and aquaculture development continent-wide, by implementing the Policy Framework and Reform Strategy for Fisheries and Aquaculture in Africa. This framework prioritizes increasing productivity, enhancing profitability, ensuring sustainability, generating wealth, promoting social welfare and food security, fostering regional collaboration, and strengthening south-south cooperation. Additionally, it advocates for the "African Voice" in international policy dialogues, particularly concerning African fisheries governance. Aligned with regional strategies and frameworks like the Agenda 2063, CAADP, the LiDeSA, and PFRS ensures coherence at continental, REC, and Member States’ levels.
