Background AWARFA

The African Women in Animal Resources Farming and Agribusiness Network (AWARFA-N) was established in 2018 to empower women in the African Animal Resources sector. It is committed to advancing gender equality and fostering women's participation in agriculture and agribusiness. AWARFA comprises five regional networks and fifteen national chapters. These platforms unite women in Animal Resources, supported by various national governments.

Activities:

  1. Establishment of Chapters: AWARFA-N supports the creation of regional and national chapters, providing platforms for networking, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.
  2. Capacity Development Workshops: AWARFA-N hosts workshops covering topics such as financial management and sustainable agriculture, empowering women to succeed in the sector.
  3. Advocacy and Policy Influence: AWARFA-N advocates for policies promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in agriculture and agribusiness.
  4. Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support: AWARFA-N offers mentorship, networking, and access to financing and insurance, fostering entrepreneurship among women in the sector.
