We value partnerships with diverse organizations dedicated to sustainable development. Collaborations with key partners drive our mission to enhance animal resources management and foster food security across Africa.
Key Collaborators:
- The African Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI): To address gaps and promote best practices across the value chain—from livestock production to finished leather products.
- African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD): Partnering on initiatives like FishGov2, we strengthen fisheries governance and aquaculture management, advancing regional integration and sustainable development.
- Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI): We have a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FITI to improve the long-term management of maritime fisheries across African Union Member States.
- The Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines (GALVmed): GALVmed and AU-IBAR have an exisiting MOU that outlines several areas of joint focus, including policy enforcement and advocacy, disease prevention, control, and eradication, as well as dialogue and engagement.
- International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI): The two institutions have a signed MOU to conduct joint research and innovation, strengthen governance and data systems, build stakeholder capacity, support policy implementation, scale technologies, and promote advocacy to enhance sustainable livestock systems and animal resource management.
- International Coalition of Working Equines (ICWE), including Brooke, The Donkey Sanctuary, SPANA, and World Horse Welfare: The current partnership highlights a common goal of enhancing animal welfare in Africa, with a particular emphasis on protecting donkey species from the escalating skin trade.
- United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO): Our joint efforts, such as PPR eradication initiatives, with FAO promote livestock development and disease control, bolstering African agricultural capacity.
- World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH): Working closely with WOAH and formalised MoU, we focus on disease surveillance, capacity building, and policy development, ensuring resilient animal health systems across Africa.
