Overview

L’Académie Régionale des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer (ARSTM) is a regional maritime and industrial training institution based in Côte d’Ivoire, serving francophone countries in West and Central Africa. Its mandate is to strengthen skills and professional capacity in maritime transport, navigation, fisheries, port management, logistics, maritime safety and related industrial fields. Through its specialised schools and research centre, ARSTM supports training, research, innovation and partnerships that contribute to safer, more efficient and sustainable maritime and fisheries sectors in Africa.

Unlocking the Potential: Empowering Women in Fish Value Addition
From 19–22 September 2023, AU-IBAR and AUDA-NEPAD, through the EU-funded Fisheries Governance Programme, held a Training of Trainers workshop in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, facilitated by the African Union Centre of Excellence, L’Académie Régionale des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer (ARSTM). The training strengthened AWFISHNET members’ skills in fish value addition, hygiene, marketing, regulatory compliance and sustainable certification to improve market access, trade opportunities, food security and sustainable fisheries development in Africa.
