Agenda

Theme: Sustainable livestock systems, food security, improved livelihoods and One Health

This regional event will bring together high-level government representatives, technical experts and scientists, development partners, international financial institutions, producer organizations, civil society, and the private sector to share experiences and promote policies and investments that will shape the future of Africa’s livestock systems, including dromedary camels.

Focus areas:

   sustainable livestock transformation for improved livelihoods, food security and nutrition,  and resilience
   transforming livestock through the One Health approach
   policies, regulatory frameworks and opportunities for investment for camel sector development and sustainable livestock transformation
   the potential of Africa’s dromedary camels in enhancing climate resilience, food security and economic development
   an exhibition dedicated to the International Year of Camelids featuring innovations, traditional knowledge, and experiences from camel-keeping communities
   knowledge-sharing and partnership-building.

Highlights:

The programme features a high-level opening session, ministerial sessions, plenary sessions with keynote speakers, and thematic sessions featuring presentations and panel discussions related to camel development and sustainable livestock transformation in Africa. Additionally, a series of side events and poster sessions will highlight the One Health approach, achievements in camel sector development and sustainable livestock transformation in the region.
