Background: Food Loss and Waste present a critical challenge across Africa, affecting food security, economic resilience, environmental sustainability, and livelihoods. Despite growing awareness, many countries face significant gaps in their policy and regulatory frameworks, operational approaches, and technical capacities for food loss and waste prevention.
To address these challenges, IFC and AU-IBAR are organizing a targeted webinar for regulators across the African continent to introduce and build awareness of key tools and initiatives that support the development and implementation of effective food loss and waste prevention systems. This includes promoting alignment of national frameworks with international best practices and strengthening capacities across the food value chain—from primary production to retail.
Target Audience:
• Regulatory officials from national SPS and border agencies
• Government policymakers responsible for trade and border management
