World Donkey Day

This World Donkey Day, we celebrate an animal that quietly supports everyday life for many rural families. Donkeys help carry water, food and farm produce, connect communities to markets and services, and reduce the heavy labour often carried by women and children.

This year’s theme, “Preserving the African Donkey Is Our Collective Responsibility,” reminds us that protecting donkeys is also about protecting livelihoods, dignity, food security and rural resilience.
