A new era of connected health has begun. AU-IBAR and its partners proudly unveil the African Union Digital One Health Information Policy and Architecture Framework. This game-changing initiative brings Africa closer to a fully integrated, digital One Health ecosystem.

This milestone Framework empowers African Union Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) to build interoperable digital systems that strengthen coordination, enhance disease surveillance, and accelerate response to cross-cutting health risks. It outlines a clear roadmap for governance, capacity building, and sustainable digital transformation across all One Health domains.

Central to this innovation is the African Union Digital One Health Platform (AU-DOHP), which was developed with the support of the BMZ and GIZ GmbH. Built on Data Mesh principles and federated data governance, the platform avoids data centralisation—ensuring that countries retain ownership of their information while collaborating seamlessly across borders.

By connecting data from human, animal, and environmental health systems, the Framework will enhance Africa’s readiness to tackle emerging threats such as zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and food safety risks.

This is more than digital transformation—it’s Africa’s blueprint for resilience.
Together, we are breaking silos, bridging systems, and building one digital health future for Africa.
